A Quick Update

Thanks to everyone who made it out for the IKEA event! I posted a few photos over on flickr, if you're interested.

Couple of quick things . . .

Given the baby-palooza that is going on around these parts, I thought it would be dandy if we did a baby pool for each of our peeps. It will be a $5 buy in, with the winner getting half the money and the other half going to the soon-to-be-sleep-deprived-and-crazy family. The first one is up because my money says that @onedamnthing is not going to make it to her due date. You can join in here. Danielle was kind enough to provide some hints (as best as that can be done) here.

Those of you who are expecting, if you could be so kind as to email me your due dates, I'll get the other pools started as appropriate.

Completely unrelated . . . as you may know, ScareHouse is starting to gear up for my most favorite time of year. As one of the nation's best Haunted houses, they are constantly looking for some part-time temporary help in September and October. Some of the positions that are available include things like crowd control and ticket office, so it could be a good opportunity to make a little cash just before Christmas. They are busiest on the weekends, and obviously need primarily evening/night help, so it may work well with some of your schedules. If you are interested, go here.

Lastly, I'm working on August's meet-up details. We're due for a family-type event. I'm looking at the Pittsburgh Zoo or Kennywood on either August 27th or August 28th. Let me know your thoughts in comments or via email.

  1. Well, I lost my own baby pool...3 weeks early. :) Yay! Will update my blog with story and pics soon. All is well here at the hospital. I should be sleeping right now instead of reading blogs. :)

    I'd vote for the zoo!

Hope IKEA was fun and I wished I'd gotten to meet y'all that night, but alas my baby had other plans. :)

  2. I vote for the Zoo, too. Mostly because Kennywood is so damn expensive to get into these days.

  3. I wanted to add that I would vote for the 28th because the 27th is my kiddo's first day of Kindergarten so I'll be dealing with that.

  4. I vote for zoo, because with the disparate ages of our kids, those of us who don't go to Kiddieland anymore wouldn't ever see those who do.

I'd have to go for the 28th, as well (early!) 'cause my kids go back to school on the 26th.

  5. I vote for K-wood simply b/c I have a season pass and am selfish like that :) But The zoo is fine too.

  6. If you all decided to go to the zoo on the 28th, we might actually be able to make it. (Yay!) We are going out of town earlier in August, and have a birthday party to host the weekend after this, but I think the 28th is free... I'll check with Rachel.

It would be great to see you all, kiddos included!

  7. I vote zoo, simply because we will have to go to Kennywood to see the boy's band and I don't want to pay to go more than once. I think we are free that weekend - Friday I get off work at 11:30.

  8. I would definitely vote zoo and could do either day (I think), but it sounds like a Saturday vote so far.

  9. I vote for the zoo - can't do Friday as I am already taking too much time off these days and it is the first week of preschool. We are planning to go to Kennywood that Monday (8/23) since the summer childcare program is closed that day and I have to take off work. Kennywood would be difficult with a group - the boys are on kiddie rides and Juliana on big rides...

  10. I, much like the others vote for the zoo but I do vote for Friday...which looks like I will lose out on (haha) as Saturday my son has a football game.

  11. I don't know that I can commit 100%, but if I were to plan an outing, it would be zoo and Saturday.
