I know lots of people have started checking out other people via their blogs, but how about leaving a little summary paragraph about yourself before the big night out on Friday?

I'll go first. I'm the slightly sarcastic Mom to a lonely two-year old girl. When I'm not stalking her every move in hopes of living a fun and highly bloggable moment, I try to spend time with my husband of nearly 8 years and our many, many pets. I work full time as the Training Manager for a big ol' construction company that does work all over the world. You might have heard of some of the job sites--the World Trade Center and the North Shore Connector in Pittsburgh are some recent projects. I think that pretty much sums it up!
Great idea!
I'm a young unmarried mom (gasp!) named Allison. I live with my boyfriend/partner/domestic partner/baby-daddy with our 8 (almost 9) month old son, Alexander. I'm a part time student, with plans to eventually become a nurse practitioner. I'll only be in Pittsburgh for a little over two more months before making the big move across the country to California, where it's sunnier and temperate, but not Pittsburgh, which I'll miss dearly. I'm rather shy at first, but I'll do my best to mingle on Friday :)
I have a feeling I'm the ancient version of a burgh mom. I'm 42, and mom to Oliver (3) and Eleanor (1). I have been in Pittsburgh almost 11 years, married to CD for 5. We also have two Clumber Spaniels. I haven't worked outside the home for over a year. (My job at CMU was eliminated when I was 6 months pregnant.) I'm hoping to go back to work soon. Originally from Maine, moved to Pittsburgh from Walla Walla, WA. Have a tendency to ramble so I'll stop there.
I'm not from Pittsburgh. Cities terrify me. I'm just south of Somerset near Amish country - we love rural life. I've been married to Sam for 15 years and we have 4 children. Our daughter is 13 and our boys are 10, 7 and 5. The baby has been blessed with Down syndrome and makes life a little more exciting for all of us. I'm a SAHM who home schooled until 2 years ago. When we put the kids in school I opened an Etsy store selling baby blankets, bibs, burpers and now kids shirts. I also have a modest kennel of corgis, several house dogs and too many horses. I love gardening but have a decidedly brownish thumb.
Hi all! I live up north a bit, about 1 1/2 hrs from the city. I spent my whole life in Western PA - I grew up in Erie, and left for the "big city" of Pittsburgh as soon as I graduated from college. I lived in the middle of the "burgh" for about 8 years. In the middle of that time, I quit my job and got my MBA through Pitt. I then met my hubby and moved out in the middle of nowhere, we started a family, and I put my career on hold.
I loved Pittsburgh, but I also love raising my 3 little girls in the country. My girls are 6, 4 and 2. My 4 yo is very special needs with a rare chromosome disorder. She is tube fed, in a wheelchair, and non verbal - but she is also very animated, very sweet and very loving. All the experts insisted she wouldn't survive birth, let alone her first year, and we are now approaching her 5th birthday! I hate experts....
I am looking forward to tomorrow. I am planning on making a day out of it - first some shopping then meeting for dinner. I don't get many days out by myself, so this is definitely a treat!
Kim - you're not the only "ancient" one. I'm Gina - 39 for a teeny bit longer. I have 2 kids - Christopher (11) and Emily (4) and a couple idiot pets. I lived in Shadyside and Bloomfield for years, bt after my son was born, we moved to my hometown about 30 miles south of the city. I'm glad to have the land and the family and the lower taxes, but I miss being right in the thick of things.
I don't write about my kids a lot - I prefer to rant and rave about everything from politics to discrimination to poverty to TV to general assholery. I have a potty mouth and strong opinions on just about everything.
I know I won't be there tomorrow, but I'm diving in anyway! I'm such a rebel like that.
Left Erie in 1989 to come to Pittsburgh for college.
Been here since that (well, officially didn't make it permanent until 1991).
Lived on the South Side for 15 years before moving to Moon Twp./Coraopolis in 2005. Miss the city; love my yard.
Married to DearDR for almost 7 years. One stillborn baby in 2003, a boy; two healthy girls, Flora who is 3, and Kate who is 16 months. (I call them Monkey and Bun on the blog.)
I have been checking out the Burgh mom blogs. Must update blogroll! I try to leave comments -- when I have a moment. As a matter of fact, I've tagged you all for the 100 Things about Me "meme". Get crackin'.
Sorry I will miss meeting you tomorrow. Looking forward to meeting you all soon, though!
ciao,
rpm
okay my turn! I'm a 29 year old mother of one daughter (Maggie, almost 14 months), married to Dan for 6 years (though we've been together for almost 12 since we were seniors in high school!) I grew up in Mars, went to college at Grove City and now live in Cranberry. So really, I haven't ventured too far from the 'Burgh and can't imagine ever doing so. I would die without Steelers football. Seriously.
Um... what else? I'm a self-employed web developer working at home, meaning I spend my days trying to wrangle some computer time in between saving my daughter from maiming herself on our furniture. I'm pretty much a computer geek, but I was also a cheerleader in high school and college. Most people find that hilarious and odd.
I can't wait to meet you all tomorrow!!
I WANT to come; I'm hoping you are still there after after 8 (maybe 9).
My blog - http://fromhere2thereandeverywhere.blogspot.com
it's typical stuff really ... crazy insane mommy raising two beautiful girlys! Hubby is private so not much about him!
OK, apparently I'm behind. What else is new?!
Even though I'll meet you all in approx. 30 minutes, I'm Susan, divorced mother of 2, marketer in a financial services firm, wannabe writer and all around multi-tasking madwoman.
Can't wait to meet you all!
Hey, we liked each other! Not bad for a start...
Great to meet everyone!
My husband grew up outside of Zelienople which is how I ended up living between Cranberry and Zelienople for 9 years.
Then we bought a farm in Mercer County for my horses. Yay! I have been showing horses ALL of my life and am focused on barrel racing for the past 8 years. I. love. horses. Amen.
I got married young and am now celebrating 20 years of marriage in about 2 weeks. It still works for us! I'm definitely married to my soul mate and best friend. We have 3 children. Our son is about to be 15, and 11 and 9 year old daughters.
I have have the best time laughing at myself. I have an English degree and love to write. Hence, I blog!
